Feminism: what comes to mind?
In the most recent New York Magazine, “The Retro Wife” written by Lisa Miller, discusses gender roles and explores the term, Feminism. Throughout the article, Miller mentions Facebook’s COO, Sheryl Sandberg. After finishing the article, I asked a few friends if they read it. One girlfriend had and after a few minutes of discussing the topic and the people mentioned throughout it, she shared the below video with me. I think all women, especially 20 SOMETHING women, need to watch Sandberg’s speech and really see the potential and “awesomeness” they possess. Enjoy!

I found myself sitting in my newly moved into and close-to-perfect apartment feeling so content with my home, relationships, job, personal and simply overall life in New York. I became numb thinking through this emotion and slightly terrified.
I sat on my couch trying to figure out how I could possibly explain this sudden color exploding out of me – this fear yet content perfection radiating around me.
(Side note: I am sober – I don’t do drugs and have not had a drink since brunch – which was about nine hours ago.)
I realized in this moment of pure open mindedness that I am so content with my life here and have never felt more settled as I do now.
I just signed a two-year lease for my East Village apartment, my job is treating me extremely well, friendships are blossoming, connections expanding, and the weather is getting nicer. I am so close to living my purest dream that I am fearful I am missing something – something horrible I forgot.
After countless lists and playing back thoughts, actions and “what if’s” in my head, all I am missing is an understanding of what’s next for me here.
This past year was such an intense and steep learning curve that I am starting to plateau. I have always had multiple jobs, activities, social groups, hobbies – but since moving to New York (over a year ago) I have switched into first gear – slowly getting my footing here and understanding the way of life.
I have not decided if this was a good or bad way to break into city life, though, I have recently realized that stressing about your past is pointless and simply a waste of time.
What I am realizing, is I am ready for spring. I want to step on the gas and shift gears and open my life to New York. I am looking forward and pushing fear of failure or the possibility of “what if” behind me.
Happy Sunday!
Xx,

Hey all! Happy March 1st! Hope you all had a wonderful February! My February involved getting a new job, lots of visits from my BF who lives in Canada, and a trip back home to Vancouver! Hope this next month can live up to Feb! Here’s a recap of the posts I did on my personal blog in February!

Ever since the first sight of snowfall in October I’ve been anxiously waiting for Spring to come as quickly as possible. Braving each winter storm like it will hopefully be the last of the season can be quite exhausting, mentally that is. You see, I’ve never been one to accept winter, which is incredibly ironic considering I used to figure skate competitively! Needless to say, my lack of acceptance tends to leave to me relentlessly trekking it to the subway station five blocks away in 4” heals. Though those five blocks may seem like a mile I refuse to let the cold, or even snow, ruin my potential of a fabulous shoe day. In my eyes Spring can’t come soon enough so I’ve decided to compile a few must-have pieces for the much anticipated season!

Want to stand out of the crowd or strut your stuff in front of an ex? These will do the trick. Jimmy Choo Bolt Painted Python Peep Toe Booties via Bergdorf Goodman, $1895

Leather may be a bit warm for spring but you’ll look super fab in the color of the season! Alice and Olivia Hoffman Leather Motorcycle Jacket via Bergdorfs, $898
Being 20 Something we had to go there… V-Day looks that kill… Even if it’s just for you!
But the most important thing to remember on Valentines Day is you (in my opinion). Especially for all the single gals out there, treat yourself to something just for you!
It’s a pretty obvious statement when I say I walk a lot here in NYC. But recently, my white Nike High Tops are getting a little grungy – and not in a fashionable way. I need an upgrade in my favorite color, black!

Nothing like adding a little height to your sneaker. Ash Leather Wedge Sneakers via Saks Fifth Avenue, $295.

I’m not sure if I’m sold on these since I normally wear my current high tops when it’s raining in the city… but these could be fun as the weather warms! Maison Martin Margiela Cutout Leather High Top Lace-Up Sneakers via Saks Fifth Avenue, $685.
