Braving The Cold

by clairefonta

Ever since the first sight of snowfall in October I’ve been anxiously waiting for Spring to come as quickly as possible. Braving each winter storm like it will hopefully be the last of the season can be quite exhausting, mentally that is. You see, I’ve never been one to accept winter, which is incredibly ironic considering I used to figure skate competitively! Needless to say, my lack of acceptance tends to leave to me relentlessly trekking it to the subway station five blocks away in 4” heals.  Though those five blocks may seem like a mile I refuse to let the cold, or even snow, ruin my potential of a fabulous shoe day. In my eyes Spring can’t come soon enough so I’ve decided to compile a few must-have pieces for the much anticipated season!

Parisian Dreams

by clairefonta

Bonjour mes amis!!

For the past month I have been dreaming of my return to my second homeland of France. Of course I love New York City, its energy, and all that it has to offer but Paris is just so different and incomparable. This amazing city has a whimsical nature adorned with romance and stone paved streets. Upon my arrival I only had two full days in Paris before having to go to the countryside in Loire Valley where my family lives. Because of this, I knew I had to make the most of my time there and make use of the new camera I recently acquired over Christmas!

Strolling past the glamorous shops at La Champs Elysee and taking frequent café breaks to watch passerby’s (too bad it was through the windows as it was freezing out) I realized how much I adore Paris. Although I couldn’t afford the items in such shops… yet… it was still fun to window shop at Chanel, Dior and Celine among others of course. First and foremost on my list of things to do was to practice my French as it could probably come in handy one day being in the Fashion Industry.

Here are some of my adventures in one of the most beautiful cities in the world;

The somewhat unlikely charity collaboration of brand ambassador and professional tennis player Novac Djokovic and Uniqlo was announced in Tokyo yesterday.

This fund will is established from the sale of HEATTECH and Ultra Light Down Items though out AW12. Uniqlo is now becoming famous for it’s CSR activities; this fund will sit along the brands existing projects ‘All-Product Recycling Program and ‘the social business’.

Djokovic said ‘I feel honored, and indeed very excited, to have collaborated with Uniqlo in developing ‘clothes for Smiles’. A totally new program that aims at giving children of all ages a chance for a better future. I hope many people from all around the world will help support this initiative and in doing so will bring smiles to children everywhere’

Citizens of Humanity : “Just Like You”

by loisclark172

Twice a month for the next year Citizens of Humanity will release a video highlighting the professions of much admired role models. From Michelin-starred chefs to pro-surfers; COH is bringing the day to day lives of exceptional people to light in the name of charity with it’s 12 month campaign. Each of the 24 participants will design a T-shirt with the entire proceeds of its sale going the their chosen charities.

It all kicks off this week with Jerome Dahan; founder of COH and prolific ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov (AKA the Russian from SATC).

Below is the first instalment of the campaign, I cannot wait to see and share the next 12 months worth.

Editorial secret – Kurv Magazine

by loisclark172

For any fashion addict finding a new magazine which sums up exactly how they feel about fashion at that particular moment is the probably greatest high one can get. Finding one which blurs the line between art scene cool and commercial sales is always a toughie, which is why in the UK we have LOVE. The lovechild of Fashion guru and Louis Vuitton stylist Katie Grand and CondeNast, is the greatest magazine in the world; or so i thought.

That was until i got a recent call in at work for Australian publication Kurv; which is pretty much the best thing since sliced bread. Cutting edge editorials featuring the hottest supermodels and the most talented designers in the world right now. This is the beginning of a nasty habit, a pricey one at that; but hey at least i haven’t started smoking.

Kurv is available in all those amazing newsagents that sell Lula, Purple and Oyster. You know the ones off the beaten track, down the side roads, the sort of place you come out £100 poorer and carrying your body weight in gorgeous smelling glossy paper.

In case you can’t track a copy down, here’s their website. Although you can’t enjoy the magazine in it’s finest form, its the next best thing.

I hope you love Kurv as much as i do

Lois xoxo
